Hawk-Eye will provide its VAR solution for the 380 matches of the 2019 Campeonato Brasileiro and the 30 matches for Copa do Brasil. The implementation of the technology has already hit the ground running, with the VAR system’s successful debut last weekend throughout the initial 10 matches of Brasileirao.
In previous weeks, Hawk-Eye has worked in collaboration with CBF to carry out significant referee training programmes to ensure all 48 referees and 30 replay operators are fully equipped and competent in delivering a flawless VAR system.
The Referee Commission President of CBF, Leonardo Gaciba, says: "I think it will be very positive for Brazilian football. We are going in search of a better football, a better spectacle. My challenge is to make sure that the VAR is used to the best of my ability. And we will do this with a lot of work".
Stephen Carter, Chief Executive Officer of Hawk-Eye Innovations, says: "It was a fantastic opportunity for me to visit Brazil and meet with so many key stakeholders this week. I know I speak for the team here when I say how extremely proud we are to be working alongside CBF; a federation synonymous with world-class football and the organiser of one of the most-watched football leagues in the world.
We would like to thank CBF for selecting Hawk-Eye and look forward to working in collaboration to deliver flawless VAR technology throughout the tournaments. The future of Hawk-Eye in Latin America is looking very promising.”
