BASINGSTOKE, UNITED KINGDOM and SINGAPORE –– September 10, 2026 –– Hawk-Eye Innovations, a Sony group company, and the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) today announce a partnership that will introduce a full set of centralised Video Assistant Referee (VAR) services, including VARdict and Goal Line Cameras to the Singapore Premier League (SPL). The multi-year agreement, enabled by Sony Singapore, saw the technology first used at the 2026/27 Community Shield and runs across the 2026/27 SPL season. 

Hawk-Eye is bringing its world-class VAR technology and expert training to Singaporean football. Powered by proprietary Synchronised Multi-Angle Replay Technology (SMART), the system gives match officials complete control over every synchronized camera angle, ensuring referees can review critical moments in real time and make precise, reliable calls to support fair play.

The infrastructure covers all four Singapore Premier League (SPL) venues, equipped with Referee Review Areas (RRA) and monitors, alongside a centralised VAR Replay Center. To guarantee seamless delivery, certified International Football Association Board (IFAB)-approved operators and Hawk-Eye technical specialists will manage operations directly from the VAR Replay Center.

To enhance transparency, Hawk-Eye’s VARdict system delivers real-time decision updates simultaneously to in-stadium giant screens, TV broadcasts, and digital platforms giving fans an insight into what is being reviewed and the outcome. Controlled via a central tablet, the system automatically populates on-screen graphics, ensuring all audiences receive identical information at the exact same time.

Additionally, two dedicated Goal Line Cameras installed at each venue will stream high frame-rate footage directly into the VAR setup. This gives the officiating team the ability to review penalty box and goal-line incidents in super slow motion, eliminating the ambiguity and margin for error common with standard broadcast cameras.

The implementation, enabled by Sony Singapore, establishes a future-proof technical foundation for the FAS, positioning Singapore's domestic game at the forefront of sports technology innovation in the region.
